OROS MAINTENANCE CENTER

INSTALLATION AND DEPLOYEMENT GUIDE


Object

This document explains how to install OROS Maintenance Center Tools.

Please check the "Maintenance Center Packing List" to make sure you have all required equipment.

Prerequisite

In order to install the Tools provided by OROS, make sure you have the followed elements.

Element with a * are provided by OROS.

Environment

You should create a dedicated spot to OROS including:

  • Table of about 2×3 m
  • ESD Table-Cover, including a bracket
  • Grounded electrical equipment
  • Streamer « OROS Maintenance Center »*

The operating conditions must be as follow:

  • temperature = 23°C ± 5°C
  • humidity rate < 80%, non-condensing

Tools

The following tools* are required to repair OR3X analyzers:

  • Philips screwdriver (Facom PZ1 1 × 100)
  • Flat screwdriver (Facom 3.5 × 0.6)
  • Torx screwdriver T10
  • Torx screwdriver T20
  • Wrench Ø5
  • Wrench Ø5.5
  • Lumberg ZMS 20

Computer

You must have a computer with the following requirement:

  • Same as NVGate requirement (see NVGate documentation)
  • Set the power management properties such as the "Turn Off hard disk or "System Standby" to "Never"
  • 4 USB ports at least
  • 1 Serial port (optional)
  • 1 Parallel port (only if you plan to use the "old-fashioned" Switch Box)
  • 1 ethernet network port to connect the OR3x with:
    IP adress
= 223.255.253.49
Network Mask
= 255.255.255.0
  • Connection to internet (Ethernet or Wireless)

Hardware

You must have the following hardware items at your disposal:

  • OROS Switch Box USB*
  • OROS Switch Box Parallel port (optional)
  • HP34401 multimeter
  • DB9-DB9 serial cable*
  • Serial-to-USB adapter*
  • NVGate Superdongle*
  • OR3X Hardware, V1 type (OR34 or OR35 or OR36 or OR38)
  • OR3X Hardware, V2 type (OR36_V2 or OR38_V2)

Multimeter configuration

Computer Connection

The multimeter serial port can be connected:

  • Directly to the Serial Port of the computer, if there is one
  • To a USB port of the computer, with the Serial-to-USB adapter provided by OROS

In the second case, use the "PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v1417" package.

Multimeter Communication Settings

Set the multimeter input/output parameters as follows (see the HP34401A Multimeter User Guide):

  • Remote Interface = RS232
  • Speed = 1200 Bauds
  • Parity = Even

Multimeter Verification

The HP34401A multimeter must be sent to your local manufacturer for verification every year.
A copy of the corresponding report must be sent to OROS.


Software

You must have the following software items installed on your PC:


The following sections explain how to configure these software.

Microsoft Office Word configuration

Language and version

It is recommended using an English version.

French version has been tested successfully in our premises but we do not guaranty that it will work with another language version.

Any version from Word97 and above can be used.

Specific Options

It is advisable to set the following options for your Word editor:

  • No grammar/orthographic tool checking
  • Do not automatically save every x minutes

Theses parameters are not obligatory, but if not done, they can slow down the OROS Automatic Verification Tools.

Macros

The OROS Automatic Verification Tools manipulate Macro VBA utilities.

Make sure the Macro Security option is set to its lower value.


PDF Creator configuration

Version

The PDF Creator version MUST BE V1.2.2 version.

It your current version is another one (older or newer), you must uninstall it and install the V1.2.2 provided by OROS. And remind to NEVER update it, even if a Windows message ask you to do so.

You can check the Version from the menu item [? –-> about]:

Default Printer

Set this PDF Creator as the default printer in your computer printer settings.

Autosave

Open the menu [Printer –> options] and select the [Autosave] tab.

Tick the [Use Auto-save] checkbox as shown below.

This will be automatically set-up to save graphics when using OROS Automatic Verification Tools.

Leave the other settings to their default values.


NVGate configuration

You are advised to manually copy the "Alpha0.cfg" and "NVGate.usr" files provided by the OROS Support Team.

As these files are different for each NVGate version, this action should be done for every NVGate version you are planning to use with the OROS Automatic Verification Tools.

The Alpha0.cfg file allows every hardware configurations (including all auxiliary board types) and limits the software plug-in to the Recorder and the FFT ones.

You should use the USB SuperDongle key.

Mailbox configuration (optional oR use usb keys or Network)

Please, check with your Information System team to install and set-up a Mailbox.

This will be used to communicate with the OROS Support team (to exchange result files for example).

Teamviewer configuration

On the install CD of the maintenance center you will find on setup/Teamviewer/TeamViewerQS_en.exe
Just copy this .exe on your PC. Launch the .exe when you want to start a TeamViewer session with OROS customer care.


OROS tools softwares installation

Once you have check and configured all the environment settings, you can process the OROS Maintenance Software Tools installation.

This chapter described how to install these elements:

  • Switch Box USB: driver and autotest
  • Switch Box parallel: autotest (i.e the "old-fashioned" Switch Box)
  • OR3X V1 Maintenance Tool
  • OR3X V1 Automatic Verification
  • OR3X V2 Maintenance Tool
  • OR3X V2 Automatic Verification

Switch Box USB

This is the new Switch Box provided by OROS, made upon an OR3x blue frame.

Unlike the "old-fashioned" Switch Box, you can plug all 32 inputs and optional auxiliary BNC from the OR3X to repair/verify in one go.

Connection

  • Plug in the power supply cable to the mains (this is the same DC power as OR35 one)
    Make sure the mains are connected to ground.
  • Plug the USB cable to the Switch Box rear panel and to a computer USB slot

Program setup

  • For windows 10 disable "signed driver enforcement"

Please ask google "windows 10 disable signed driver enforcement" for the last up to date way for doing it....

  • Click on "SwitchBoxV2_Verification_Setup.exe".

The default installation directory is: "C:\OROS\SwitchBoxV2_Verification"

  • Power on the Switch Box by pressing the "Power" button during 3 seconds

All BNC LEDS are lighted blue then stay lighted green and Windows displays a message "New Hardware Detected".

  • Open the Devices Manager and select the "OROS 32 Channels BNC BOX USB" item:

  • Right-click to install the driver from the "\OR38test_V2\Drivers\SwitchBoxV2\" directory

Once this driver is installed successfully, all BNC LEDS are lighted off.

If you are using the adaptor RS232 to USB to connect the multimeter to the PC by USB you need to install the driver. For this install :

Test

  • Run "Programs  OROS  SwitchBoxV2_Verification  SwitchBoxV2Verification command prompt"
  • Type in "SwitchBoxV2Verification.exe Test.txt"

(Warning : don't put The X-pod terminal on the switchbox)

While this Autotest is running :

  • Test result is displayed in green in the prompt windows (or red if error)
  • The BNC LED currently processed is lighted white, then green when finished (or red if error)

At the end of the Autotest (about 10 minutes), the following window should display "No Error detected":

The text result file is located in the "C:\OROS\SwitchBoxV2_Verification" directory.

This operation must be done at least every 3 months and the result file sent to OROS

Switch Box parallel

This is the "old-fashioned" white OROS switch box, which is normally replaced by the USB one.

This paragraph is for compatibility purpose only.

Connection

  • Plug in the power supply cable to the mains
    Make sure the mains are connected to ground.
  • Plug the parallel cable to the Switch Box rear panel and to the computer parallel port

Program setup

  • Click on "SwitchBox_Verification_Setup.exe".

The default installation directory is: "C:\OROS\SwitchBox_Verification_V1"

Test

  • Remove all BNC cables
  • Connect a BNC cable between HP33401 on switch box and multimeter
  • Run "Programs  OROS  SwitchBox_Verification  – SwitchBox_Verification command prompt"
  • Type in "SwitchBox_Verification.exe Test.txt"

While this Autotest is running , test result is displayed in green in the prompt windows (or red if error).

At the end of the Autotest (about 30 minutes), the window should display "No Error detected"

The text result file is located in the "C:\OROS\SwitchBox_Verification_V1" directory.

This operation must be done at least every 3 months and the result file sent to OROS

NVGate

NVGate version should be V7.10 or higher.

Program setup

You can install several NVGate versions on your computer.

  • Insert the SuperDongle key on a USB port
  • Install NVGate from your CD as usual with the following differences:
  • The default directory is "C:\Program Files\OROS\OR3X\", it is preferable to select another directory with the version number, for example:
    C:\OROS\NVGATE_V710\ for NVGate V7.10
    C:\OROS\NVGATE_V800\ for NVGate V8.00
    and so on …
  • It also good to have a specific database for each version of NVGate. This can be set on NVGatecfg.exe.
  • When the "Setup Key" window is displayed to ask the key directory, click on "Cancel"
  • You are advised to manually copy the "Alpha0.cfg" and "NVGate.usr" files provided by the OROS Support Team. As these files are different for each NVGate version, this action should be done for every NVGate version you have installed. The Alpha0.cfg file allows every hardware configurations (including all auxiliary board types) and limits the software plug-in to the Recorder and the FFT ones.
  • You need also to copy the project and macro on the database of NVGate. By default the project and macro are here: OR38test_V2\OR3X V2 Auto Verification\. By default the project and macro have to be here C:\OROS\NVGate data on the folder Macro and project.
  • It is recommended to disable all ports (especially ECP one) from Sentinel Driver, except the USB one:

This tool is generally located in (depending of your Windows Operating System):

  • "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel System Driver"
  • "C:\Program Files\Common Files\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel System Driver"

Test

Start NVGate in the Office mode (will start with the SuperDongle Key).

You should be able to see all analog input/output connection types:

This will enable you to plug any customer OR3x analyzer, whatever its configuration is.

Then you can test, repair and verify any OR3x analyzer.


OR3X V1 Maintenance Tool

Program setup

  • Click on "Setup_OR38test_V1.exe".

The default installation directory is: "C:\OROS\OR3X_ProdTest_V1"

Configuration

  • Edit the following element in the "custom.ini" file:

  • Create a shortcut for "Or38test" program on the desktop:

Test

Click on this icon, you are asked to enter a password:

Leave it with the current password and click on OK to continue.

(This will be used for advanced operations that can be carried on only by the OROS Support Team over a TeamViewer session).


The OR3x Maintenance Tool

starts:

Connect an OR3x V1 analyzer (OR34, OR35, OR36 or OR38) to the Ethernet port.

Click on [Connect OR3x], then [Get Configuration], the log window displays the current OR3X configuration :

Check that a text file is created in the "C:\OROS\OR3X_ProdTest_V1\Results" directory.

("900861.txt" in this example)

Click on [Disconnect OR3X] and [EXIT] the program.


OR3X V1 Automatic Verification

Program setup

  • Click on "Setup_OR3XAutomaticVerification_V1".

The default installation directory is: "C:\OROS\OR3X_Automatic_Verification_V1"

Configuration

Projects and Macros for NVGate:

A specific set of projects and macros are required by NVGate to run the Automatic Verification.

Manually copy the contents of these directories to the NVGate data ones:

  "C:\OROS\OR3X_Automatic_Verification_V1\Projects" "C:\OROS\NVGate data\Projects"
  "C:\OROS\OR3X_Automatic_Verification_V1\Macros" "C:\OROS\NVGate data\Macros"

Ini files

  • Edit the following elements in the "constants.ini" file:

NVGate versions:

[OR38]
'Indicate the number of OR38 software:
NSoft=1
'List the different OR38 software:
Soft1=NVGATE V7.10
 

For example, if you have installed 2 NVGate versions (let's say V7.10 and V8.00), modify these lines:

And do the same for the [OR36], [OR35] and [OR34] sections.

If you have installed the current software in the default directory, you shouldn't have to modify this item unless you want to save the verification reports to another directory.

In this case, do not forget to manually create the corresponding directory.

  • Create a shortcut for "OR3X V1 Auto Verification.exe" program on the desktop:

OR3X V2 Maintenance Tool and Automatic Verification

Program setup

  • Click on "Setup_OR38test_V2.exe".

The default installation directory is: "C:\OROS\OR3X_ProdTest_V2"

Both softwares (Maintenance Tool and Automatic Verification) are installed by this setup.

Alternatively, the Automatic Calibration can be installed on its own with "Setup_OR3XVerification_V2.exe" in the default "C:\OROS\OR3X_Automatic_Verification_V2" directory.

Configuration for Maintenance Tool

  • Copy the "OR3X V2 Production Test" shortcut to the desktop:

  • Results are saved in "C:\OROS\OR3X_ProdTest_V2\OR3X V2 TEST RESULTS"

Test Maintenance Tool

Click on this icon, you are asked to enter a password:

Leave it with the current password and click on OK to continue.

(This will be used for advanced operations that can be carried on only by the OROS Support Team over a TeamViewer session).

The OR3x Hard V2 Maintenance Tool starts.


Connect an OR3x V2 analyzer (OR36 V2 or OR38 V2) to the Ethernet port.

Click on [Get OR3X configuration], the log window displays the current OR3X configuration :

If everything is OK, this dialog box is displayed:

Check that a log file is created in the "C:\OROS\OR3X_ProdTest_V2\OR3X V2 TEST RESULTS" directory.

("GetOR3XConfiguration_901522.log" in this example)


Configuration for Automatic Verification

Projects and Macros for NVGate:

A specific set of projects and macros are required by NVGate to run the Automatic Verification.

Manually copy the contents of these directories to the NVGate data ones:

"C:\Data\Outils_de_prod_10334\OR3X_ProdTest_V2\OR3X V2 Auto Verification\Projects"

"C:\OROS\NVGate data\Projects"

"C:\Data\Outils_de_prod_10334\OR3X_ProdTest_V2\OR3X V2 Auto Verification\Macros"

"C:\OROS\NVGate data\Macros"

If already done when installing "OR3X V1 Automatic Verification", it is not necessary to copy projects and macros.

If not, copy them.

All projects and Macros are the same for OR3X V1 and OR3X V2 hardwares.

Ini files

  • Edit the following elements in the "constants.ini" file:

NVGate versions:

'Indicate the number of OR38V2 software:

'List the different OR38V2 software:

For example, if you have installed 2 NVGate versions (let's say V7.10 and V8.00), modify these lines:
